
The Royal College Computer Society inspired innovation yet again with the release of the Live Mobile App for the historic 135th Battle of the Blues to held on the 13th, 14th and the 15th of March, 2014. The App, which was released on Apple iOS, Google Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry OS platforms, goes down in history as the country’s first ever multi-platform mobile application released by a school.
Last year the app, launched for Google Android devices saw immense success with over one thousand users across the globe. This was the first ever app to be developed and released by school students in Sri Lanka.
2014 saw a drastic improvement in features which included Real Time Scores and Stats updated by the Live App team at the SSC grounds, a Live Commentary, Video Playbacks, Twitter Feeds and Player Profiles. The app brought fans closer than ever to Sri Lanka’s Most Celebrated Sporting event no matter where they were.
The Battle of the Blues Live Score Application this year had a total of 6522 downloads worldwide, almost a sevenfold increase from 2013. It toppedthe Google Play Top Free Chart at #131. Total Server Requests amounted to 97,260 with 12.248 GB sent in total. Its peak network usage was 8.38 Megabytes per second
This one of a kind product was developed by RCCS programmers Chamath Palihawadana,OCJP and Roshnal Lihinikadu along with its Graphical User Interface designed by Pathum Egodawatta. The project was generously funded by the Royal College group of 2010.
